Over the summer of 2002 I worked on building my first major application that wasn't for coursework: 3-D Tic Tac Toe. The game engine was based on a non-graphical 3-D tic tac toe that Terrence Wong and I wrote for our final project in Artificial Intelligence.
I added a graphical interface using OpenGL and the Qt GUI toolset. It was written in Linux, so if you have access to a Linux computer, you can download and try it out.
It's hosted as an open source project on Sourceforge.
Here is the link to the project web site: http://tictactoe3d.sourceforge.net/
And here is the page on Sourceforge where you can download the program:

Over Winter break 2002-3, I converted the program to Windows and added some features for an entrepreneur from SAIC who wanted to use my program in his commercial version of 3-D Tic Tac Toe. He is selling a physical version of the game, and will be packaging my software with it on CD.
Below is a picture of the 3-D Tic Tac Toe board that I improved for the Windows version. As you can see, it is much nicer looking than my original Linux version above. It is also 5x5x5 in dimensions rather than 4x4x4.
