I've added photos from Mount Saint Helens (the volcano that blew up in 1980),
Dungeness Spit, and miscellaneous stuff.

This weekend I went hiking up Mount Bandera with a group of interns. It was lots of fun, and more challenging than I expected (the 2nd half was extremely steep).
I also played Ultimate frisbee for the first time on Sunday.
Photos from Mount Bandera and frisbee (unrelated events).
I also have some Redmond area photos, including pictures of my apartment.

I've been enjoying my work at Microsoft so far. My project is actually
fun, and I always have lots to work on. I only have two complaints: 1)
there are no women. There are about 10 male interns for every female
one. It's sorta funny when a group of 25 interns go to a bar and a
45-year-old women who sees your group says "Wow, what a sausage fest."
2) The "higher-ups" have been saying that their judgment
of our performance will be based on whether we exceeded the goals that
we outlined at the beginning of the summer. My problem with that is:
if you exceed your goals, then you simply failed to properly judge
what your goals should have been. It's like that line from Gattaca:
"No one exceeds his potential. [If he did, ] it would simply mean that
we did not accurately gauge his potential in the first place." So if
Microsoft is judging us by how much we exceed our goals, then that
simply means you should underestimate your goals when you write them.

Well, my undergrad years are over.
Graduation was last week (photos here), and now I'm in Seattle/Redmond. I've been doing lots of stuff here, but I'll write about that later.
I would just like to note that I was in the same kindergarten class as Heather Matarazzo, who is now a movie star.
AND, she came to my birthday party when I turned 5! I can now say, I ate cake with a movie star.

I had a great time in New Orleans. Had to work most of the days, but we had some time to go into the French Quarter a couple times. Our AIBO team (dogs) won 1st place, and soccer simulation (what I work on) got 3rd. It also was a really good way to get a better idea of what Robocup is about and what other people are working on. American Open photos here.

I'm going to be out of town (in New Orleans!) from Friday till Wednesday morning for the RoboCup American Open. I'll post photos when I return!

Spring Carnival is over (my last one as an undergrad). :( I have photos of Buggy, general Carnival stuff, and MOBOT.

The past couple weeks, as you know, a lot has happened to The Tartan as a result of the Natrat incident. I've considered writing about it, but am not sure what I want to say. I may do so at a future date.
For now, I'd simply like to advertise a new page on my site: an archive of all my Tartan articles. I put up all my articles from the past 3-4 years because I don't think they're going to be restored to the official Tartan website anytime soon, and I think it's helpful to have past news archived and available. I also posted a new, never-been-published article on frivolous lawsuits.

I had my first lucid dream last night (ie, a dream in which you realize you're dreaming, and sometimes have control over). It was actually in a subdream - a second dream within the first dream (an "embedded" dream). I opened the cupboard in the kitchen and saw that there were hundreds of glasses, all exactly half full with water. I wonder what that means. The hundreds of glasses half filled with water struck me as a little odd, and that's when I realized I was in a dream. I tried to will myself out of it. It didn't work. I thought I was stuck in my dream. So then I got scared and started shaking myself, and then woke up. :)

Time for an actual update about what I've been up to.
I've been spending a lot of time (too much!) on the Computer Game Programming course, but I don't mind because it's really fun. Check out my projects page for pictures and info on the games I've been working on.
I recently got into rock climbing at The Climbing Wall (yes, they have the worst website in the world), thanks to Bernice's introduction.
Oh, and my other news is that I will be in Seattle this summer doing an internship with Microsoft. I'll be working in the MSN search engine group - the one trying to make a search engine to compete with Google. So that should be very exciting. :) Hmm, I wonder if they'll read my previous post about Google.

Just got back from Seattle [photos] and San Francisco/Berkeley [photos]. Both were fun, and had great weather!
